Mersey Estuary tidal power scheme 'will not go ahead'

It appears that, for now, the tidal power scheme for the River Mersey is on hold. That is - currently it is not economically viable but, should things change, it could be put back on the table. So a little bit of good news. However, we must remain vigilant as, according to Peel's Stage Three feasibility report the preferred option is 'a full barrage' from New Ferry to the Dingle. See:
